Project Title: Research on Advanced ICT Utilization for Vessels and Drones to Support Rescue Operations for Small Vessels in Coastal and Nearshore Waters

Project Overview: This project aims to develop a system that enables rapid rescue operations for small vessels in coastal and nearshore waters. Specifically, we are focusing on developing a system capable of responding immediately to man overboard incidents involving small vessels that may not be equipped with distress beacons like AIS.

The system is centered around a prototype alarm device utilizing Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology. To accurately locate the person in the water and facilitate rapid rescue operations, we are integrating advanced ICT technologies such as quasi-zenith satellites and drones. By implementing this system, we aim to minimize casualties by enabling the timely rescue of individuals who have fallen overboard.

The overall design of the project encompasses the development of a device that transmits the location of the person in the water, as well as the deployment of rescue drones. Our goal is to create a system that can facilitate rapid rescue operations regardless of communication constraints. Ultimately, we expect these technologies to work together effectively to significantly reduce the number of casualties in maritime accidents.

Research and development of a system to supplement operational log information using sea surface temperature data from satellite.

This part of the project focuses on developing a system that supplements the information in operational logs by utilizing sea surface temperature data obtained from satellites.
