PROJECTS

Participated in the “FY2023 Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) Utilization Demonstration Project” by the Cabinet Office

Project Title: Demonstration of Automated Creation of Fishing Operation Information Using AI and the Michibiki Satellite System

Project Overview: This project aimed to demonstrate the feasibility of automatically generating fishing operation information using AI and the Michibiki (QZSS) satellite system. By collecting high-precision vessel trajectory data through SLAS-enabled GNSS modules, we developed an AI model to estimate fishing effort, contributing to more accurate fisheries resource assessments and improved safety for fishermen. Additionally, we integrated disaster warning and communication services to enhance safety at sea.

Our team focused on the research and development of a shipboard reception system utilizing the Michibiki (QZSS) Disaster Warning and Communication Service. This system enables fishermen to receive critical alerts, such as tsunami warnings, even in areas with limited terrestrial communication.
